In a child welfare proceeding, any information that is considered to be material and relevant to the issues before the court is admissible evidence. However, at the fact-finding hearing, the hearing to determine whether your child has been abused or neglected, the evidence must be material, relevant and competent, that means it must comply with the rules of evidence and hearsay is generally not allowed.
