Kristen N. Epifania, Esq., joined the Williams Law Group as an Associate and handles divorce, custody, and all criminal defense matters. Kristen believes that communication is key to a successful attorney-client relationship and takes pride in a transparent, direct, and empathetic approach to each client. Prior to joining WLG, Kristen worked in both the public and private sectors, representing a wide range of individuals. She works with each client to develop an individualized strategy to their matter, and always places the best interests of her clients at the forefront of her representation.
Kristen received her Juris Doctor (JD) from Brooklyn Law School, where she received the Dean’s Merit Scholarship, the Lisle Scholarship, and the Lark-Barranco Scholarship. While there, Kristen pursued a Certificate in Criminal Law and gained practical experience in the criminal sector, working with the Kings County District Attorney’s Office in the Crimes Against Children bureau, where she assisted with the prosecution of sex crimes, assault charges, and homicides. She also gained experience with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York handling immigration matters that intersected with the criminal sector. In seeking to combine her passions for both the criminal and family sectors, Kristen volunteered with NYC-based Sanctuary for Families, where she handled uncontested divorce proceedings stemming from domestic violence and sex trafficking cases.
Upon graduating from law school, Kristen worked with a Manhattan-based criminal defense firm. For five years, she represented individuals on both felony and misdemeanor level matters throughout New York City, where she gained invaluable exposure to the different strategies used by prosecutors across the city. This experience shaped Kristen’s dedicated and no-nonsense approach to strong advocacy for her clients.
Prior to joining the Williams Law Group, Kristen served as a trial attorney with the Monmouth County Public Defender’s Office, where she represented clients in Superior Court for indictable-level offenses. She routinely handled offenses related to assaults, theft, narcotics, domestic violence, and a variety of crimes that ranged in severity. Kristen will carefully examine every detail of your case and will thoroughly explore all avenues of defense to fight for your rights. Compassionate and aggressive, Kristen will go the extra mile to fight for those she represents.
